About Me
Hey! I’m Richard J. Dalton. I'm a radio geek, radio nerd, and metadata citizen scientist.
I’ve spent most of my life around radio in one way or another. I worked as a mixshow DJ from the 1990s through the party rock era (approx 2018), then stepped away for a while before jumping back in again in 2026.
Over the years, I’ve worn a lot of hats: operations manager for a public radio station, distribution manager for a Corporation for Public Broadcasting-funded project, on-air personality, high school teacher, school district network administrator, club DJ and Certified Broadcast Technician. Somewhere in there, I was also in a band that very briefly ruled the college radio dance charts.
I also have a CDL, because driving big vehicles is kinda fun.
These days, I own a radio station covering the highway between Las Vegas and Reno. The station sits on a piece of land with a ridiculous amount of history: former brothel, railroad terminus, mine shaft headframe, and a lot of scandalous stories. I get to try weird and unconventional ideas here, with no one to yell at me, and no worries about ratings.
This blog is where I write about radio things, like metadata and DIY projects. And nerdy things.
